Since I was having a lot of problems with Hyper-V in Windows 8.1 trying to run Server 2012 R2 and Server 2008 R2, I decided to give VirtualBox a shot. I really need to get a test environment running with a 2012 DC, a 2012 server with Exchange 2013 and a Windows 7 Pro client.
For some reason, Hyper-V was just causing me all sorts of grief with VMs. I never experienced this before. Maybe my hardware is failing, I don’t know for sure, but I’m hoping VirtualBox gets me going!

  • VirtualBox has been running my 2012 R2 install flawlessly without any Bugcheck/BSODs.
