Here’s an easy way to determine how many pavers are needed for the new patio you are building.
Let’s assume the following…
Patio Area: 16'Wx12'L
Paver: 8Wx12H
Square footage of Patio Area (P) is 192. This is derived by multiplying Length by Width.
Each paver is not 1 square foot. 1 square foot would be a 12Hx12W
paver. In this example, I’m working with an 8Hx12W
paver (p).
Convert the paver into square inches by multiplying width by the height: 8*12 = 96 in2
So far
P=192 ft2 (Patio square footage)
p=96 in2 (Paver square inches)
1 ft2 is 144 (12×12).
Calculate how many of these pavers will be required to fill a single square foot.
144/96 = 1.5 pavers
Take total square footage, P, and multiple by how many pavers are required for each square footage.
192*1.5 = 288 pavers
Not too bad. I think I’ll get this project started soon.

Moon Pictures
Took a few snaps of the moon tonight using my Canon SX30IS. One day I’ll spend more time with this camera and really learn how to take some great photos… One day!

February 6, 2010 Joy Ride
Was just looking at some of my old videos I put on Facebook and came across this one from February 2010. I spent 4 hours digging out of my driveway with a broom and using my car to rock back and forth and plow the driveway. After escaping, I went on a joyride:
