I discovered that I have been missing out on a great trick I learned the other night when trying to manually rename hundreds of photos. A Google search showed me the errors of my ways…
You can easily batch rename files in Windows explorer.
In this example, there are a handful of images named Test Shots 001 and so on. I want to rename them to “My Test Shots” and automatically number them.
Select all the images and right click on the first image listed and choose “Rename”
Give it a name; In this example I called them “My Test Shots”. Hit enter when done.
You will now see the images are automatically renamed and appended with (#).
