Change Forgotten Windows 7 Password

I have not tried these steps outlined below, so use at your own risk.

1. Boot from a Windows 7 or Windows 8 DVD
2. Select Language
3. Select repair computer
4. Select Windows 7 or Windows 8
5. Open Command Prompt in advance option
6. Enter:
   copy c:Windowssystem32utilman.exe c:
7. Enter:
   copy c:Windowssystem32cmd.exe c:Windowssystem32utilman.exe
8. Press “y”, Enter
9. Restart Computer
10. On Logon Screen click “Ease of Access” button at the bottom left of the screen
11. This will open Command Prompt
12. Enter:
    net user username password (Username is the username you want to reset and password is the new password)
13. Restart Computer and boot from the Windows 7 or Windows 8 DVD
14. Select Language
15. Select Repair Computer
16. Select Windows 7 or Windows 8
17. Open Command Prompt in Advanced option
18. Enter:
    copy c:utilman.exe c:Windowssystem32utilman.exe
19. Press “y”, Enter
20. Restart Computer
