Error:

This error is typically caused by Antivirus (such as Symantec) removing/clearing IRPStackSize DWORD value.
To resolve this you can follow Microsoft’s Instructions (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/177078).
The following should be done on the machine you’re trying to access NOT the machine you’re getting an error on.
If there is a IRPStackSize value in there you can remove it and let Windows manage it. Otherwise, you’ll need to add the IRPStackSize DWORD entry (case SeNsitive). The default value is 15. I’ve had to increase mine on a number of machines to 21 (decimal).
- Open Registry Editor: Start -> Run -> Type: regedit -> Click OK
- Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanserver\Parameters
- Right-click on the right side and select New -> DWORD
- Type IRPStackSize (case sensitive!) and select Decimal and enter 15.
- Click OK, close Registry Editor and reboot.
Try to browse to the share again; if it fails, increase the IRPStackSize value by 3 until it works. You need to reboot after each change. Be sure to select Decimal and enter in the value after selecting decimal. The maximum size is 50 (decimal) for IRPStackSize. Again, 21 worked in all of my problematic cases.
If you have Symantec installed or just removed it, you may want to check out this information site for this issue from Symantec.
