How to get current MS SQL 2008 Version

Here’s a quick T-SQL to get you the current version of your SQL server.

SELECT
SERVERPROPERTY('ProductVersion') AS ProductVersion,
SERVERPROPERTY ('ProductLevel') AS ProductLevel,
SERVERPROPERTY('Edition') AS Edition,
SERVERPROPERTY('EngineEdition') AS EngineEdition
GO
width=494

Microsoft

You can also use:

SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('productversion'), SERVERPROPERTY ('productlevel'), SERVERPROPERTY ('edition')
